Testing the Waters
In previous years the girls swim and dive team consistently won most of their meets. This year shows promise as the girls dive into this year feeling strong about placing high in this year’s competitions.
“I’m confident in our chances for getting to state this year” said diver Bailey Ash.
With the departure of top seniors such as Madison Beasley and Simone
Paul the team feels that it has big shoes to fill. But with the leadership of Olivia Reins and Andra McDougall they may have a shot at keeping their top spot in the state.
“I like how self-reliant you have to be because it is a sport where you have to be mentally strong” said swimmer and diver Olivia Reins.
The swimming team has a strong position in relays, sprints, and long distance swimming, this is complimented with strong swimmers such as Kaelin Flannery and Abby Lemirande taking a big role in the success within the team.
As for the diving team’s strong divers such as Bailey Ash, Olivia Reins and Ivy Todd have a great chance to flip their way into first in the annual conference meet as well the state meet. These ladies have all had previous experience with sports that involve a strong sense of flexibility giving them an edge over the other competitions.
Some other notable swimmers that might have an impact on the team are Bella Fisher, Annalise Basch, and Piper Lasota because of their motivation to improve the team.
“I like how close the team is and how much closer we will get during the season” said swimmer/diver Olivia Reins.
This closeness between teammates is important on a team as small as that of Estes Park High School.
With the new season already upon us the girls have put in a lot of work already and are ready for the challenges that face them.
